FLUX: Water
"In Pursuit of Balance"
(Ongoing)
FLUX is a collection of video art works, an ongoing research on constant change and balance, through the narrative of elements.
The successive chapter of this collection, FLUX: Water “In Pursuit of Balance”, is a series of video art works and short films, narrating tales from diverse landscapes, documenting the way of the “Water” element, a depiction of the mind and the search of a state of “Consciousness”; an effortless disposition of being in the Here and Now.
Water is the element of adaptation and flow, a non-stop transformation to find equilibrium. It can fit into any shape, yet it is detatched from the form. It is the supreme nurturer, yet a relentless destroyer.
Over centuries, ancient cultures had developed philosophical concepts and thought patterns to grasp the mechanism of life and being. By all means the influence between Hinduism and Buddhism is inevitably lucid, however, the analogy in the realization of elements in completely different parts of the world, such as Aztec, Chinese, Greek, Japanese, Indian and Central African communities,
in the absence of any cultural interaction, is truly substantial.
The collection’s main focus is to develop a channel to understand the concept of the mind’s liberation, interpreting the ancient Eastern teachings into a script that is free from the analytical abstraction of the Western approach.
Through this series of video art works, "In Pursuit of Balance" aims to construct a holistic and immersive experience for the viewers, whilst carrying them through a continuous loop of moving inside and outside, encouraging to find a common ground
to be the observer and observee concurrently.
Till We Reach Home | 2o24
"Till We Reach Home," the first narrative of the “In Pursuit of Balance” collection, is a letter from the depths of the Water, from the future and from the past, inspired by the unproved theory by French immunologist Jacques Benveniste. According to his research, Water, in its essence, holds memories of the environments it flows through.
This concept suggests that each droplet carries the ultimate imprint of its journey, from ancient glaciers to bustling rivers, embodying the history of the Earth itself. This memory can evoke feelings of connection to nature, reminding us of our shared experiences and the transient beauty of life.
The narrative moves around the cyclical nature of existence - ebbing and flowing of the tides, mirroring the eternal dance of yin and yang. It calls on the reader to surrender to this transformation, where stillness and motion, expansion and release, light and shadow coexist as one.
